Overview
Common fireplace problems
Gaps in the firebox let intense heat reach the surrounding structure, which is a real safety concern. A damper that won't close lets warm air escape all winter; one that won't open fully can cause smoke problems.
We repair or replace damaged firebrick, repoint firebox joints with refractory mortar, and repair or replace dampers — including top-sealing dampers that close at the top of the flue.

Signs your fireplace needs repair
- Cracked, loose, or missing firebrick
- Mortar gaps between firebricks

Fireplace Repair FAQ
Can I keep using a fireplace with cracked firebrick?
Small surface cracks are common, but gaps or missing pieces can let heat reach areas that aren't designed for it. Have it looked at before your next fire.
